Fiker Think Tank Institute provides quantitative and qualitative data analysis and prepares research reports for government and non-governmental institutions, organisations, and research bodies.
Assignments may involve data collected by the Institute or existing datasets supplied by a commissioning organisation. Work begins by clarifying the questions to be answered, reviewing how the data was produced, and assessing whether it can support the intended analysis.
Data Review and Preparation
Examining dataset structure, variable definitions, coding, completeness, and consistency. Preparation may include identifying duplicate records, reviewing unusual values, harmonising categories, and creating derived variables.
Processing decisions are documented. Missing responses are distinguished from questions that were not applicable or not asked, and any exclusions or corrections are explained.
Quantitative Analysis
Describing distributions, calculating indicators, comparing groups, and examining relationships between variables. Methods are selected according to the research questions, measurement scales, sample design, and assumptions required for analysis.
Where relevant, analysis accounts for survey weights and sampling structure. Statistical significance is considered alongside the size and practical importance of observed differences.
Qualitative Analysis
Analysing interviews, focus groups, open-ended responses, and relevant documents to identify themes, experiences, and explanatory patterns.
The analytical framework may reflect predefined research questions, themes emerging from the material, or both. Interpretation considers variation and contrasting accounts, while quotations are selected with attention to context and participant privacy.
Integrating Quantitative and Qualitative Findings
Bringing together numerical patterns and qualitative accounts where the study includes both. This helps examine how experiences and contextual factors relate to the findings.
Agreement, differences, and gaps between sources are made explicit. Contradictory findings are examined rather than omitted.
Research Reports and Executive Summaries
Preparing reports that connect research questions, methods, findings, and conclusions. Recommendations, where commissioned, are linked to the analysis and presented with their supporting rationale.
The level of detail reflects the intended readership. Technical reports may be accompanied by executive summaries, briefing notes, or presentations, while retaining the qualifications necessary to interpret the findings.
Tables and Data Visualisation
Presenting results through tables and charts suited to the information being communicated. Figures identify units, reference periods, sources, and the bases used to calculate percentages.
Visual presentation preserves scale and context, distinguishes counts from percentages, and explains uncertainty where relevant.
Analytical Review and Documentation
The scope includes agreed checks for consistency between datasets, tables, charts, and narrative findings. Reports distinguish observed results from interpretation and avoid causal claims unsupported by the research design.
Limitations may concern missing information, sample coverage, small subgroups, measurement differences, or the comparability of data across periods. These are explained where they affect the conclusions.
Deliverables
Depending on the assignment, deliverables may include:
Reports may be prepared in Arabic, English, or both, as agreed. Dataset access, confidentiality, ownership, and publication arrangements are defined within the assignment.
- A data review note and analysis plan.
- Prepared datasets, a variable guide, and a processing log.
- Statistical tables and qualitative analytical summaries.
- A research report, executive summary, and presentation.
- Charts and publication-ready figures.
- Analysis syntax or code, where included in the agreement.
Request Analysis and Reporting Services
Please share the purpose of the analysis, the main questions, a description of the available data, the intended audience, and the required outputs and timeframe.
For an initial discussion, a questionnaire, variable list, or data description may be sufficient. Arrangements for transferring any identifiable or confidential records should be agreed before sharing them.
