If you have been invited to take part in a study or survey conducted by Fiker Think Tank Institute, this page explains what participation may involve and how to ask questions.
Studies differ in purpose, subject, and method. Before you participate, you will receive information about the specific study, including its purpose, what you will be asked to do, the expected duration, and how the information you provide will be used.
Why was I invited?
Participant selection depends on the study’s objectives and methodology. You may be invited because of where you live, a population group relevant to the study, your experience of the subject, or your involvement in a programme being evaluated.
You can ask the research team how you were selected and how your contact details were obtained. Receiving an invitation does not necessarily mean that the team already knew your name or personal details.
How can I verify the interviewer or invitation?
Ask the person contacting you for their name, role, study title, and the organisation on whose behalf they are working. You can contact the Institute using the email address on this page to verify an invitation or enquire about the team.
If anything is unclear, you may postpone participation until your questions have been answered.
What does participation involve?
Depending on the study, participation may involve completing a questionnaire, taking part in an interview, or joining a group discussion. The team will explain the topics and expected duration before you begin.
Questions about opinions and personal experiences seek your own perspective. You do not need to agree with the interviewer or with other participants.
Is participation voluntary?
Participation is voluntary. You may decline the invitation, skip a question, or end the interview if you do not wish to continue.
The study information will explain whether and how previously submitted data can be withdrawn. It may no longer be possible to identify your responses once the information linking them to you has been removed.
How will my information be used?
The study information and its privacy notice explain how your information will be used, who may have access to it, and any intended sharing or publication of data.
You can ask whether responses are collected without identifying details or linked to contact information for specified purposes. Contact details may be requested for follow-up or interview quality checks; the reason for collecting them and their intended use should be explained.
Will the interview be recorded or photographs taken?
If a study involves audio or video recording or photography, this will be explained beforehand, including its purpose and intended use, and the necessary consent will be sought. You may ask whether participation without recording or photography is possible.
Can I access the findings?
Access to findings depends on the study and its publication arrangements. You can ask the team whether a public report or summary will be available. Materials authorised for public release are published through the Institute’s Research and Publications page.
